Education

Church School

Classes for children from pre-school age to grade 5 are available during the school year during the 10 a.m. worship service.

Mid-High Church School

Mid-high students (grades 6-8) meet on Sunday mornings at 9 a.m. in the small conference room.

High School Group

High school students meet each Sunday at 9 a.m. in the "Chill Room." They are also very active in diocesean events.

Nursery

A nursery for young children is available each Sunday morning during the 10 a.m. service (9 a.m. during summer months). We also have a special class for three year-olds during nursery time that incorporates story and song into their play.

Vacation Bible School

In cooperation with area churches, St. James is a cooperative member of the Pullman Vacation Bible School, which usually occurs in the week following Father's Day. In recent years, staff from Camp Lutherhaven have presented a full-day program, allowing youth from grades 7-12 the opportunity to serve as small-group leaders and helpers for a weeklong class serving around 100 children.

Sunday Morning Study Group

This group meets each Sunday morning at 9 a.m. to discuss a book that the group is reading.  Contact Jean Wardwell.

Small Group Bible Studies

One group meets at the church each Thursday evening to discuss the Bible lessons for the week. Contact Carol Porter.  Another group meets in members' homes (usually on a Wednesday evening) for Bible study or discussion of a contemporary book. Recently, for instance, the group read God's Politics by Jim Wallis.  Contact Sharon Nitz.

Newcomers' Classes

In the Epiphany season, right after Christmas, Rev. Rivetti offers a class for newcomers to St. James that focuses on the history of the Episcopal Church and ways to get involved in the church locally.

Camp Cross

Children and youth from 4th grade through high school participate as campers in a week of intense spiritual formation and fun on the lake at our Diocesan summer camp on Lake Coeur d'Alene. High school students are also eligible to serve as camp counselors. Family Camp, Labor of Love, Women's Weekend, and Taizé Weekend are some of the special gatherings for adults. St. James ECW provides generous scholarships to support our children and youth attending camp, or attending Counselor-in-Training sessions.
