Job Title: Childcare Provider, St. James’ Episcopal Church, Pullman, WA
Rate of Pay: $12.50/hr. ($25.00/Sunday)
Hours: Sundays, 10:00 a.m. – Noon

Context
The Childcare Provider works independently and in collaboration with church staff and volunteers to serve the congregation’s childcare needs, consistent with the values of St. James’ Episcopal Church and the wider church mission statement.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide a comfortable, safe and non-threatening environment for a small number of children ages 0-3 yrs in the church nursery during the Sunday morning church service (10:30am-11:30am)
- Must be able to work nearly all Sundays except for holidays.
- Communicate with family members regarding their child’s needs and circumstances.
- Work collaboratively with youth or parent volunteer while maintaining ultimate responsibility for children’s care and well being.
- Read and tell stories.
- Play games consistent with the children’s development, needs, and interests.
- Prepare and serve a small nutritional snack.
- Treat child and family information confidentially.
- Coordinate substitute caregivers, as needed, to maintain 100% coverage of Sunday childcare needs.
- Preference will be given to candidates who are willing to provide child care for up to about one hour per month for church events outside the Sunday worship time.
Qualifications:
- 18 years of age or older
- An early childhood development major, education major or related experience or education.
- Proven effectiveness working with children and their family members in a caring environment.
- Experience providing a comfortable, safe and non-threatening environment, or related training.
- Suitable background check.
