Advocacy and Ballot Issues Workshop

An advocacy and ballot issues workshop will be held Saturday, September 18, at the church.  Registration with light refreshments begins at 9:30 am, with the workshop lasting from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Lunch is included.

Alice Woldt, Executive Director of the Washington Association of Churches (WAC), will lead us in discussing the following topics:

  • Advocacy 101 (why advocacy, why it is part of the faith tradition, why now)

  • Engaging our faith when making decisions about issues

  • Learning how to discuss controversial topics in a respectful way

  • A close look at one or two initiatives (to be determined) that are most misunderstood

Registration is $8. For early-bird registration, send $5 before September 10 to St. James Episcopal Church, 1410 NE Stadium Way, Pullman, WA 99163. This is an ecumenical workshop, sponsored by St. James Social Justice and Outreach Ministry and by Sacred Heart Social Justice Ministry. For more information, contact Francy Pavlas Bose (509-332-5114), Roy Johnson (509-334-3322) or Sandra Ristow (509-332-1767)
