Rector Search

In February 2025, the Rev. Linda Young retired after almost 9 years as rector of St. James, Pullman. In April 2025, the Rev. Rachel Endicott became interim priest-in-charge of St. James. We are now searching for a rector to lead our parish into the future.

In keeping with our charge to “listen in order to act,” the Profile Ministry Group invites you to join us for a Story Sharing Session to help us better understand who we are as a congregation. Part of the Diocesan guidelines for the PMG include gathering stories from parishioners about their experiences as a member of St. James and as a person of faith. During these approximately one-hour informal sessions, you'll be invited to share your stories in a small group setting, in response to specific prompts. Along with the CAT results, what we hear in these stories will form the core of the St. James Profile, a document that will reflect “who we are, what we seek and where we believe God is leading us.” Hearing many stories from many parishioners will result in a richer, fuller, depiction of who we are as a congregation. Please join us at one of these sessions:

· Sunday, 10/12, 12:15 pm in the Canterbury Room

· Tuesday, 10/14, 10:00 am in the Canterbury Room

· Sunday, 10/19, 12:15 pm in the Canterbury Room

The Congregational Assessment Tool (CAT) survey is in the field and is open until Sunday, October 5. This is an important tool for describing what St. James is—and wants to be in the future. We encourage all parishioners to take the survey.

In October, the Profile Ministry Group will be holding a series of story-sharing sessions with the people of St. James to help us describe our parish’s identity.

The Profile Ministry Group met with Susan Cleveley on August 28 to discuss next steps in developing the profile document for St. James. Susan is Transition Minister for the Diocese of Spokane. The committee anticipates holding several gatherings to gather input from the people of St. James of what we seek in a new Rector.

In addition, we anticipate we will be distributing the Congregation Assessment Tool (CAT) survey, which will help to describe what St. James looks like now in terms of energy and satisfaction--and where we would like to be in the future.

St. James Prayer for Call

O God, grant by your inspiration that the people of St. James may be creative and compelling witnesses to Jesus Christ. We gather as a community of faith and love, with diverse voices united in prayer. Be with us as we seek our way together. We ask this in your name. Amen
